Today's Dog-6-17-2018

Bitty the Chihuahua, the Dog of the Day
Name: Bitty
Age: Twelve years old
Gender: FemaleBreed: Chihuahua
Home: Snyder, Texas, USA

Bitty is my long haired deer head Chihuahua. Bitty has always been special to me because of how quickly we connected. We shared a bond from day one when we got here. She's a preppy little princess sometimes but she's a total sweetheart. She does this trick I call stand pretty. When she does it, she gets on her back legs and her tail starts twitching and puts one of her paws on your leg and tilts her head.

My grandmother got her as a puppy when I was seven. My dad and I lived with her at the time. My grandmother got sick after I and my dad moved out in 2012 when Bitty was about six years old, and so she gave Bitty to me. Bitty was not my first Chihuahua, but she is definitely my favorite. She's kind of secluded when it comes to other people but she's incredibly protective over me and she loves to go with me when I go out for jogs. She doesn't really like games but she sleeps with my Umbreon stuffed animal and she loves to watch reruns of "Grimm" and "House md" with me. She's an incredibly affectionate and talkative dog.

Today's Dog-6-18-2018
Patch the Cocker Spaniel, Poodle mix, the Dog of the Day
Name: Patch
Age: Ten years old
Gender: MaleBreed: Cocker Spaniel, Poodle mix
Home: Orland, Maine, USA

When I take him to work with me he's Patch the Server Dog.. At home he's Sheriff Patch, keeping the squirrel army at bay While hiking he's Ranger Patch. On the motorcycle he's just known as The Motorcycle Dog around town. As you can see, he wears his own dog goggles - doggles - to protect his eyes when we are on the motorcycle.

Ge never leaves my side, which was especially thoughtful of him through the months of cancer and divorce. He best trick is he plays dead when you point and "shoot" at him by saying "bang."

The most fascinating feature of this dog is his ability to communicate. He'll look at you until you get up then lead you to what he wants. For water he walks to the bathroom and looks at the shower (I now keep a much bigger bowl down for him.)

He refuses to eat dog food. If I'm not eating it he doesn't want it, so I cook for him most nights. Liver, pork, rice, cheese and some veggies. I know, he's spoiled, but I make sure he stays healthy, and only give him dog-safe food.

Patch prefers to be with me and will ignore other dogs for the most part. He's a great walker, very satisfying as he's so excited to walk - even though we go almost every day for an extended walk.

In the summer we ride the motorcycle to the lake daily and he retrieves a blue Reebok sandal over and over, ometimes swimming after the ducks for a while instead.

He's next to me on the bed, as always right now and I wouldn't have it any other way. He's a great companion.
